For spring 2016 we are seeing a lot of the mixing of prints. From bold colors and patterns to florals and stripes. This is an avenue of fashion that I myself have not dared yet to embark on ,but there is no time like the present. I love the look of it always have just never knew how to pull it off or put it together ,until now with the help of google and pinterest.
So a few tips I picked up along the way of scouring the internet on how to actually achieve this mix print fashion without looking like a hot mess.
1. Keep the colors relatively in the same color family or mix complimenting colors such as yellow and blue, mint and red and so on. Basicly look at a color on the color wheel and look what is across from it. Red to green, blue to orange and purple to yellow.
2. Print size. Mix a smaller print with a larger print to scale the look.
3. Have fun with it take a risk. No risk no reward. This is a fun playful fashion look.
A designer that I think is pretty amazing at this whole mixing of prints is newcomer Stella Jean. A self-taught Italian-Haitian designer who uses sustainably sourced fabrics, aimed at helping trade workers in developing communities. Suzy Menkes a international Vogue editor said it best “Stella's unusual ethnicity and her desire to make ethically sound clothes, helping the poorest women in the world, makes her bold and colourful clothes as beautiful inside as out,”
I will be embarking on this mixing of prints fashion journey and incorporating it in some of my own accessories designs. Why not give it a go with me if you have not already done so. Let's have some fashion fun.
